eSIMs

eSIMs

Lets talk eSIMs!

Each one of these holidays we have taken our phones, luckily in Europe we’ve been able to use the bundle roaming with our provider but further afield this isn’t an option and anyone who is in the UK knows some of the providers like to charge stupid amounts of money to use data!

We use one of 2 eSIM providers – both have been reliable and have worked well. For the past few years our choice has been Ubigi, it’s quick to setup, it installs a single eSIM which you can use time and time again. It’s always reliable but not always the cheapest, we’ve also not had to use their customer service because it’s worked so well!

Our newest option is Saily, this is a relatively new provider and is owned by Nord VPN so comes with some extra features built-in. It’s cheaper than Ubigi but I did have to contact Customer Services when using it in the Maldives, however the experience was great and they sorted the issue in less time than it took me to drink my cocktail!

If you’re a new customer to either and would like to save yourself some money then please feel free to use my referral discount codes below –

Ubigi (my personal choice) – Use code ASZVBHBG – You’ll get 20% off your first order and I’ll get a discount on my next order.

Saily – Use code MATTHE2248 – You’ll get $5 off your first purchase and I’ll get a credit for my next purchase.

For cost comparison (prices as of Aug 25)

Ubigi – Antigua & Barbuda – $13 for 1GB Data valid for 30 days from activation. This would cost you $10.40 using my discount code above.

Saily – Antigua & Barbuda – $8.99 for 1GB Data valid for 7 days from activation, you also get 3% back in credits for future purchases. This would cost your $3.99 using my discount code above.

I’m Matt, aka Behind the Geek.

Welcome to the site!

After a few years of Youtube and Instagram, I kept thinking these didn’t quite capture the experience, this is in part to me not being a particularly photo or video friendly type but I do have a way with words, or they have a way with me.

This site will have a collection of our holiday experiences, trips, food and other stuff that may or may not be fun. It will contain sarcasm, and a lot of movie and TV references.

You’ll also get to meet Porgwin, our channel/site mascot who started life in a grab machine and was rescued by me minutes before watching Episode VIII of Star Wars, hence Porgwin, half penguin, half porg.
